Rebecca is a member of a Village Savings and Loans Association. After taking out her first loan, she employed labour and expanded the types of produce she was growing. The variety of plants Rebecca grew meant the household dietary intake has improved. Rebecca is now able to grow not only enough produce to feed her children, but she has produced a huge surplus of maize for the first time to store and sell as and when she needs the income. This extra income will allow Rebecca to send her children to school and support orphans in the community.
