How a single mother of two turned her life around

Have you ever faced a really hopeless situation? If so, you may know how a lady we work with, Martha, felt when she separated from her husband and was left to care for her 2 children alone.

Without any significant source of income, the future was looking bleak.

How would she provide enough food… buy medicine when the children got sick… pay their school fees?

But Martha is no quitter.

Because of your help, combined with her hard work and entrepreneurial spirit, the story does not end here.

What to do when life knocks you down? Get up, shake off the dust, and… Open a cafe!

And that is exactly what Martha did.

First, she educated herself. She joined our project and learnt how to run a small business, how to access a small loan and invest it to generate a profit.

Now Martha is a very proud cafe owner, serving tea and simple meals to passers by. Here it is – she has a great location, just near the main road.

The income Martha is earning is enough to meet all the big needs in her family.

‘How do you like owning a cafe?’ I asked Martha.

A proud, and happy expression spread across her face. ‘It feels good,’ she said.
