A safe place

How this remarkable mother of 5 took her family from extreme poverty to experiencing no lack.

We would like to say a walloping Thank You for your support during 2019. You have changed lives. Really.

Take Mary for example. I had the pleasure of meeting her and one of her 5 daughters a few weeks ago at her home in Nkhotakota, Malawi.

I think you will like this story.

Mary once really struggled to make ends meet. With no steady income, she and her family relied on the crops they grew to get them through the year.

It was common for her family to eat one meal a day, and affording basic things like school materials and medicines was incredibly challenging.

However, recently things have turned around. In fact, now Mary and her family experience no lack.

What happened?

In the last 12 months, Mary has been part of our economic empowerment project, and has learnt to start and manage a successful business. Mary is making a very good living, trading maize – the main staple in Malawi.

Her children now have opportunities that they never had before, like secondary school, and maybe even university one day.

Mary has also built a beautiful house – a safe place for her family to call home.

If it wasn’t for you, we simply would not have been able to give this support, to many people like Mary.
