The Big Summer Lottery 2022 – what was achieved?

Because of your support through the Big Summer Lottery, we were able to raise over £400,000. 100% of this goes directly to charitable causes. Wow!

The Big Summer Lottery is all about creating a future where children can thrive – that’s why we do what we do.

This incredible result means that all of our 5 goals for the next 12 months have been made possible, for the benefit and wellbeing of children living in extreme poverty, as well as here in Guernsey.

If you would like to continue supporting and moving these projects forward, The £5 Lottery Club is a very effective, rewarding way to do that.

5 goals unlocked

Save lives through safe, accessible water. We will be able to provide an additional 1,400 households with access to a sustainable supply of safe water within a short distance of their home — that is around 5,600 people. Because of you, children won’t need to risk their lives every time they take a drink.

Empower farming families to earn. We will use some of the funds to buy produce at a fair price directly from 300 farmers, so that they can profit from their farming enterprises, reinvest in their business and support the needs of their families. These crops will be stored, processed and sold on, not only providing employment and an important service to customers, but also enabling this initiative to fund itself.

Continue supporting families. We will be able to continue working alongside 2,000 households, providing training and support in business and finance so that they can meet their own basic needs on their own terms, like enough food, medical care and better housing.

Explore opportunities in education. We are excited to use some of the funds to partner with Malawians to develop a scalable business model for early years and primary education, to enable even the lowest income families to access high quality care and education.

Local support. We are able to support 4 other local charities offering extraordinary support to children on our island, with a total of £28,000 — Autism Guernsey, Action for Children, Trauma Recovery Centre & Guernsey Arts Commission
