Vietnam Experience

In November, a group of cyclists went cycling for 10 days, through the countryside of Vietnam. Among them were three people raising money for current Hope for a Child projects in Africa.

This stunning bike ride challenge took place in Vietnam, a country filled with captivating natural beauty and tranquil village life. They covered more than 450km and visited some of the most fascinating places the country has to offer.

If an adventure like this excites you, CLICK HERE to see our list of 2009 challenges. There are 3 difficulty levels to choose from. The age range in Vietnam was 20 - 62, and as far as I am aware the numbers going out were equal to those coming back...

Press release

Locally run charity Hope for a Child has received a financial boost thanks to the efforts of three intrepid cyclists.  Charity founder Roy Herring with supporters Matt Clark and Paul Le Page recently completed a cycling trek through Vietnam to raise funds for sustainable projects in Africa.

The trek involved cycling over 450km from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City across terrain ranging from isolated villages to major cities.  During the trip there were a variety of challenges to overcome including torrential rain, flooded roads, upset stomachs and the more attractive (yet equally demanding) Hai Van Pass, recently featured on BBC Top Gear.

Team member and charity founder Roy Herring summed up the trip by saying “We enjoyed a great adventure and raised about £3000 for the charity. This money is being used to enable  families to rise from poverty through training them in savings, loans and business schemes.”

This is the first time Hope for a Child has chosen this method of fund raising, however it will not be the last.  Before the team even set off for Vietnam, no less than ten expeditions were already planned for 2009 and with the success of this pilot expedition confidence is high for more success stories.  If you are interested in registering for one of this year’s challenges, or more information on Hope for a Child, telephone 727547 or visit www.hope.gg
